Gas Generation - Nitrogen PSA Systems

Adsorbent Media for On-Site Nitrogen Generation

Pressure Swing Adsorption (PSA) technology produces high-purity nitrogen directly from compressed air using specialised adsorbent media. Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) is the primary adsorbent used within PSA Nitrogen Generators and plays a critical role in determining nitrogen purity, recovery efficiency, and operating costs.

SORB-TECH supplies specialised second-generation Carbon Molecular Sieves (CMS), manufactured using advanced phenolic resin technology, together with Activated Alumina, Molecular Sieves, and Activated Carbon used to protect and optimise nitrogen generation systems.

How PSA Nitrogen Generation Works

Atmospheric air contains approximately 78% nitrogen and 21% oxygen. PSA Nitrogen Generators use Carbon Molecular Sieve (CMS) to selectively adsorb oxygen molecules while allowing nitrogen molecules to pass through as the product gas.

The system operates using alternating adsorption and regeneration cycles, continuously separating nitrogen from compressed air and delivering a reliable supply of high-purity nitrogen.

The quality and condition of the CMS media are critical factors affecting nitrogen purity, recovery efficiency, compressed air consumption, and long-term system performance.
